Public Safety Civil Service Commission
Represented police officer who was wrongfully terminated by Seattle Police Department. After a 3-day hearing, the Commission rescinded the termination and ordered that the officer be reinstated.

Obtained complete relief for individual denied early retirement benefits by union. The Union’s Pension Trust violated ERISA and the arbitrator awarded full benefits plus all attorneys’ fees and costs. [top]

Successfully represented American Seafoods in U.S. District Court and on appeal. In a published decision, the Ninth Circuit affirmed summary judgment in favor of American Seafoods on claims of national origin discrimination under Title VII and Washington law. [top]

Successfully obtained complete summary judgment for Company. Judge Coughenour ordered dismissal of all claims, including claims brought under the FMLA, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and Washington law. [top]


Terran Crow, et. al. v. Energy Northwest
Benton County Superior Court
As first chair, successfully defended company from overtime claims brought by nine supervisory employees. Two-week jury trial on all nine plaintiffs’ claims. Complete defense verdict, finding that the nine supervisors were properly classified as exempt. [top]

United States District Court, Western District of Washington
Obtained complete summary judgment for the employer on a seaman’s claims of age discrimination and wrongful termination in violation of public policy. [top]


Western Wireless Corporation v. Omniserve Wireless and William H. Curtis, United States District Court, Western District of Washington
Successfully obtained a preliminary injunction based on a non-competition agreement. [top]


Alicia Shaw v. Energy Northwest
United States District Court, Eastern District of Washington
Successfully defended company and individual supervisor in a jury trial. Plaintiff was a long-term African-American employee who claimed race discrimination and retaliation. The jury rendered a complete defense verdict.[top]

Lawrence Easley v. Sea-Land Service, Inc.,
King County Superior Court
As second chair at trial, successfully defended company who terminated a mechanic after an on-the-job injury. Mechanic claimed that the employer had failed to accommodate his medical condition. The City of Tacoma Human Rights Commission found in favor of the employee before our firm was involved. At trial, the jury rendered a complete defense verdict. [top]
